Before I begin I'd just like to say that I'm not saying this to discriminate or be a bitch in any way but it's just something that I feel needs to be addressed before anything discrepancies arise.

Recently I've noticed that a lot of the members of gunnergirls are not actually Arsenal fans or support multiple teams. It is part of community rules that closed membership means that only gunner fans will be permitted to join the community. However, I'm sure that none of the members in this community or the mods mind if someone joins the community to perhaps learn more about Arsenal or maybe is a fan of one of the players but not the whole team. None of the MODs or members feel the need to deny anyone membership into this community. But I think that all members who are not Arsenal fans first and foremost need to be warned that since this is an Arsenal community the gunnergirls have every right to say whatever they please in this community no matter how biased towards Arsenal their comments may be.

I just want all members of this community to know that when I created this community I did it so that Arsenal fans would have a safe place to say whatever they feel, no matter how biased it is towards Arsenal. The reason the community is members only is so that the fans wouldn't have to hold back what they want to say and censor their comments because they don't want to offend fans of another team on their flist. gunnergirls is a safe haven (for the lack of a better word) for us to express our opinions about Arsenal freely.

When it comes to game time, we have match spams and it's not uncommon for us to possibly say negative things about teams that we are playing against or for any of our members to say something negative about another team at any time within this community. I don't want there to be any hurt feelings for what the gunnergirls have said so I ask that if you are a member of this community who either supports another team or supports other teams along Arsenal, make sure that you are able to handle such commentary from this community and that you will not be hurt by anything that is said against your team by another member of this community.

We're glad to have you all as members of this community and our MOD teams works hard every single day to deliver the posts that you expect to see every day. We just all want this to be a welcoming environment for all members. If you're not a gunner fan but you're here to perhaps see what being a gunner is all about then I'm really glad you're interested in Arsenal! But when it comes down to game time, gunnergirls are allowed to gloat when we win and bitch about another team when we lose so in order to save us all from the needless LJ-drama, please reconsider whether or not you want to be a part of this community when it comes down to that.

Thank you for your time and co-operation. I really hope that didn't come of as a bitchy statement and you all understand where the other MODs and I are coming from when we raise this concern.

this is NOT a bitchy statement, it makes me want to line all the mods up and squish you guys for ten minutes. i love this community, and hell to anti-biasness against teams we play against. this community was created as a result of the love towards Wenger's army (i'm torn between describing Wenger's gorgeous army or Wenger's fuckinghotwhendrenchedinperspiration army hmm), and it's because of this community that we're brought closer into this inner circle of similar passion.

i make great friends here and somehow 'gunnergirls' is much exclusive compared to gunners' official lj site.

i like this entry, i feel this strong urge of group-hug-squishy-adoration for all the girls who stood by our fuckinghotwhendrenchedinperspiration Gunners
(I finally made my choice to describe Wenger's boys).

Very well said! :) And not bitchy at all, just put matter-of-fact!
I'm not quite sure what may have went down to have the need to remind everyone of what you've said, but we're all here in support of our red-army Gunner boys. I myself also support another team...FC Nürnberg, and love them to bits also, but if they ever played against Arsenal (yeh, right, that would happen in my dreams! LOL!) I would fully expect a thrashing brought down upon FCN by the Gunners (I know the limits of FCN...and still adore them for it).

This is a fantastic site, and all who are members are certainly proud I would imagine! *hugs* :)

Wow. LOL at people who join an Arsenal comm and then complain about the negativity towards other teams. That deserves a big steaming pile of WTF.

I am one of those people who like two teams in the EPL but I don't care what people say about my other team. Opinions are opinions and most of the things that people say are hilarious to me.

With that said, this comm is awesome! I've only joined a couple of Arse spams and it's seriously one of the best things about waking up for those stupid o'clock games (I'm on the US West coast, fyi). The Arsenal boys, of course, are the other.

It's rather daft not to expect pro-arsenal/anti-others comments and posts when you've join an Arsenal comm. *rolls eyes* The stupidity of some never ceases to annoy me. Go you for pointing it out to them though.

Having said that, I'm a United girl myself, who just happens to like a few Arsenal players ;)

Did someone complain about negative comments towards another team? I hate Chelsea and Bolton, I feel sorry for Spurs and I dislike but respect Manchester United. That's just the way it is. And that's only the English teams.. *g*

*applauds you*

people who complain about "us disrespecting their team" on this community must be blind, they're in GUNNERgirls for pete's sake? They should know that we can say what we want, and of course will always be Arsenal biased, because, well this is an ARSENAL community.

thanks for being a great mod. :D

Very well said. It's kind of sad in a way that it was necesarry to make this statement.

Ditto to everyone else. If people have been making comments like that...well, this is an Arsenal community. Where would we be if we couldn't slag off Spurs? (And Chelsea, Bolton, Blackburn, Man U, etc...)

if people are going to watch football and get in a fuss about light joking fun rivalry comments they need to rethink what the fuck they're doing pretending to be football fans.

I just read this post, and didn't find it bitchy at all. In fact, I appreciate your explaining your position so clearly, and it actually inspired me to join this community.

The Gooners are my #1 club. I won't watch a BPL match unless the Gooners are playing--partly out of loyalty to the club, and partly because I'm a sucker for "beautiful football."

I'm Italian-American, so I also have a favorite Serie A club: AS Roma. And I've always admired Barcelona. I also admire a few players from other clubs. But if any of these clubs should play the Gooners, I will root for the Gooners every time. (Also, if my current favorite Gooner--Mathieu Flamini--ends up leaving the club at the end of this season--and I sure hope he doesn't--I will remain a Gooners fan.)

The only other thing I'll say is that I'm very glad I found this community.
